Employment Insurance

If you have been laid off from a job where you have been paying into EI, you must apply through Service Canada.

EI will compensate you to a maximum of 55% of your insurable income to a maximum yearly insurable earnings amount is $54,200. This means that you can receive a maximum amount of $573 per week.

You will require a Record of Employment (RoE) from your employer – many are equipped to send this electronically to Service Canada. You DO NOT need to wait for the RoE in order to apply.
